There is 1 star for the restaurant 1 star for the good and quality food 1 star for the friendly staff BUT: 1 star deduction because of the type of order. Ordering at the counter does not suit the restaurant. 1 star deduction because I wanted to order oysters but there are none on December 23rd! A fish restaurant that doesn't offer oysters during the Christmas season ... where can you get something like that?
Good drinks, tasty food.
Tried oysters for the first time and I have to say a great experience
As others have already written, you have to queue at the cash register for your drinks and food. We hadn't made a reservation on Saturday, but got a table outside for 1 3/4 hours. There were 2 couples in front of us. We took drinks with us. Starters were served pretty quickly. My wife then got her main course. Not me. After half an hour I then asked. It had been forgotten in the kitchen. If you want another glass of wine, you have to get in line again. Later, however, there were around 20 people. Impossible. The food was superb but the whole way of ordering can only put you off.
Are you out and about in Trier, are you hungry and like fish with wine accompaniment? Then you are exactly right here. Enjoy the day.
Good sea food and wine
Fish dishes excellent. Together with a wine bar. Unsurpassed!!!
We did a wine tasting and ate in the restaurant immediately afterwards. The wine tasting was very good thanks to the very competent, nice sommelier. She tailored the wines to our taste and was able to confidently answer our questions. We felt we were in very good hands and, thanks to the knowledge of the sommelier, we were able to buy suitable wines. We would always do a wine tasting with her. In addition, the Oechsle wine exhibition is very interesting and appealing. However, we expected more from the food. The range of fish dishes was relatively small. The mussels were fresh but we missed the sauce with the salmon. We just lacked that certain something. All in all, it's well worth a visit, especially for a wine tasting!
The concept of wine and fish house convinced us. The selection of fish dishes was great, and there were matching wines from the region in a nice atmosphere. The service is competent and friendly. It wasn't easy to find as it is on a small back road, but it was worth looking for.
Unfortunately very tight and complicated at reception. The staff seems haphazard. In corona times you have to write down the data in this tightness and under poor lighting conditions. You have to ask about the concept. Choose food and drinks on the tables. Pay. Take drinks with you to the seat. Food is brought. It's all delicious. It's loud and too bright at some tables to be comfortable
According to the display at the restaurant, a wine tasting is offered at any time, unfortunately this is not possible. We had on the 26.09. on the homepage an appointment for the wine tasting, for the 27.09. booked binding. After arriving at the restaurant it was said that this is not possible at all on Sunday. Very annoying, especially since we had such a futile journey. So I absolutely cannot recommend this place
Whenever we're in Trier, we end up at the Oechsle at least once. The combination of a small but tasty menu, the range of excellent fish dishes and the extensive selection of regional and international wines make it always worth a visit. We have already met some interesting winemakers from the area in this way.
First of all: the food was delicious! The fish was fresh, the side dishes hot and tasty and the wine easy to drink! Now comes the but: the ambience is a disaster! We felt like we were with Nordsee Deluxe! You don't choose and order at the table, but in front of the cash register! The dishes are brought to the table for luck after all ... But the food is a little cheaper than in the gourmet restaurant. But with this quality class of fish I don't want the ambience of a self-service eatery. Pity!
Were there again, table 109, for 22.30 euros: 1x 0.7 water, 1x fish soup - as always great, 1x plaice fillet - tiny portion (it's not even worth taking a photo) and tasteless. Did we have bad luck this time :( Will there be a next time?
Very good food but the fish soup is still the best thing on the menu. Excellent wine selection too. Well worth a visit.
The fish gastronomy in Trier. Changing menu with fish variations, from simple to ingenious. Fish soup, oysters, and goat cheese are also good recommendations. You can also put together an individual dish from the fish counter, e.g. a tuna steak. There is also a large selection of wines. Orders and payments are made at the counter, drinks are taken to the table. The food is served. On the first floor you can do a wine tasting of Moselle wines, and also buy good drops. We would love to come back.
1. The house is not located directly on the main pedestrian street but rather withdrawn through a small corridor 2. The fish dishes are very fresh and delicious 3. The service competent and friendly 4. Safe and well organized even in corona times 5. Outside and inside, very pretty / modern - romantic and therefore pleasant
Last year this was the highlight for our vacation. This year we made a reservation for the winetasting but when we arrived we where told that we could not join and something went wrong. After that we wanted to order some bottles of wine to take home but they kept ignoring us so we left. Sad to end our vacation on this bad note.
Great concept: you order and pay directly at the counter, you take your drinks with you and food is brought. Efficient and uncomplicated. The selection of fish and wine is very good and you get great quality at a very fair price. If we are in Trier again, we will definitely take part in a wine tasting!
Great wine tasting Interesting information and wines. Our winemaker introduced us to wine and sparked our love for wine ..... Beware of addiction !!!! He's totally responded to our wishes and palates. All really good.
delicious food, friendly staff, what else do you want!
One wouldn’t expect a competent fish restaurant in the middle of Palatinate but this is exactly what it is. Amazing choice of more than 120 local wines, let the owner guide you for the best match!
Very tasty fish. Good wine selection. Pleasant coworkers. Kind boss. The wine tastings are certainly good too, but we didn't have time now.
Top Audwahl
The oysters did not have the typical sea water aroma. We don't know what caused this, but the taste of the oysters was therefore somewhat bland. The fish soup was ok, although it should have allowed less fat to float in it and the fish composition could have been a bit more colorful (for a bit more flavor). The mussels and tuna steak were fine, but could have used a little more salt. The wine was very tasty. A glass of wine that died in the self-service was unfortunately not replaced.
Didn't eat there, but so far only ever bought (bottled) wine. Probably the best selection of different wines in the entire region. There are wines in every price category, plus everything at winemaker prices. If you don't know exactly which wine it should be, you can get excellent advice here.
Perfect wine and tasty food. Great place to eat and have some time with friends.
Fish was tasty, and good wine, met my expectations
Excellent fish on grill, very good wine
Best fish in the area.
Ok
This place was so good! You go in and immediately see their fresh fish counter. You can pick out exactly what you want from the counter, or you can order off the menu and they will cook it and bring it to your table. Delicious food, good wine.
Can't say I raved about my fried fish...probably not used to having it cooked this way
Excellent place, seafood is really good and I've been surprised with the goo cost-benefit. Housewine is honest and cheap. In general lines, a very good choice
Went a few times and was never disappointed. Menu changes daily, get a nice riesling to drink and sit on the nice terasse, enjoy the moment.
Good and fresh food, reasonable price and lovely service
One of my favorite places
Lovely fresh fish and excellent wines
Wide selection of dishes and friendly staff
Excellent choice of wines and the tasting was a good experience with a very knowledgeable guide
Super!
Great food, extensive wine collection. Good service...
Very tasty meal, big assortment of vines and nice place at all.
Fish soup was great, wine was awesome... But waiting almost hour and a half for main course was a bit too much
We went upstairs for a wine tasting and it was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff! Tasted 6 delicious wines from the Mosel region and it was exactly what I had hoped for in planning a trip to Trier!
Very good quality of fishes with many choices. The fish sup is incredible. Price is average thus the ratio quality-price is excellent. Lot of white wine to taste also.
Excellent fish restaurant in Trier, good prices & great wine
Fantastic fish restaurant and a wonderful selection of local wine's. 120+ different wine's to taste!
Great selection of wines
Tasty fish and outdoor seating. Wine was nice as well.
